Featured Speaker
Dr. Sarah Fontaine
Dr. Sarah Fontaine is Senior Director for Medical and Scientific Affairs at the Alzheimer's Association, where she oversees the organization's international grants programming and helps drive a global research agenda aimed at ending Alzheimer's and all other dementia. In this role, she works at the intersection of science, strategy, and philanthropy to advance discoveries that translate into meaningful impact for patients, families, and caregivers worldwide.
Prior to joining the Alzheimer's Association, Dr. Fontaine served as a Program Manager at the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) within the U.S. Department of Defense, where she managed competitive research portfolios in Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and neurotrauma/traumatic brain injury, overseeing programs funded through congressional appropriations. Dr. Fontaine received her Ph.D. from the University of Bath, England, and went on to hold postdoctoral and research faculty appointments at Indiana University, the University of South Florida, and the University of Kentucky. Her research focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease, tauopathies, and neurotrauma — work that continues to inform her commitment to advancing the science behind dementia care and treatments.
