Changing the Odds: Lung Cancer, New Advances, and the Employer Experience

Dr. Mark & Dr. Michael will be joined by an expert from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and an employer to explore breakthroughs in lung cancer care alongside the realities of helping employees navigate diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Featured Speaker

Alexis Chidi, MD, PhD, MSPH

Thoracic Surgeon; Co-Director, Lung Cancer Screening Program
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Dr. Chidi is a Thoracic Surgeon and serves as Co-Director of MSK’s Lung Cancer Screening Program, which works with people at higher risk of lung cancer to find and treat suspicious lung nodules before cancer spreads. She is highly trained in using the latest minimally invasive techniques including robotic bronchoscopy, advanced endoscopy, video-assisted thoracoscopy (VATS), and robotic surgery.

Dr. Chidi’s approach when it comes to surgery is to always talk with her patients to decide whether a minimally invasive approach is possible, walking them through every part of the process, from pre-operative preparation to the surgical plan to the expectations for recovery in the hospital and at home.

While not in the operating room or clinic, Dr. Chidi devotes her time to clinical research focused on improving access to lung cancer screening, clinical trials, and the latest treatments for cancers of the chest. She is also involved in policy and advocacy efforts to make it easier for patients to receive the highest-quality cancer care.

She became a thoracic surgeon because it allowed her the chance to treat patients facing challenging diagnoses with empathy and compassion while providing them with high-quality surgical care and access to advanced surgical techniques.
