Heart Health & Health Equity: What Employers Can Do to Close the Cardiovascular Gap

In recognition of Black History Month, this Monday’s with Dr Mark & Dr Michael explores why cardiovascular disease continues to disproportionately impact Black communities and how historical mistrust, structural barriers, and social drivers shape today’s outcomes. Employers will learn practical actions they can take through benefits design, access to care, and workplace programs to improve heart health equity for Black employees.

Dr. George Adesina, MD, MPH, FACC, is a Lifestyle Cardiologist, wellness speaker, and heart health ambassador who champions a prevention-first approach to cardiovascular care by blending clinical expertise with storytelling and practical lifestyle strategies. A nationally recognized speaker and influencer, he empowers audiences—from corporate leaders to wellness communities and healthcare professionals—to reduce risk, increase energy, and improve performance through sustainable behavior change. He earned his BS from Xavier University of Louisiana, MPH from Tulane University, MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch, completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center, and served as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at UTMB.
